## Compliance by Design Panel: Can You Integrate AI into Your Accessibility Strategy?

As we head into March, many disability services teams are focused on the upcoming April digital accessibility deadlines. **This shouldn't be a time of panic, but rather an opportunity to see how new tools can help us build more inclusive campuses.**

**12th March 2026, 12:00PM (US Eastern Time)**

When used correctly, AI can act as a powerful form of scaffolding, giving students the independence to manage their own accommodations and engage with course materials in ways that work best for them. However, true inclusion requires a dual-track strategy: **using AI to reach compliance, and ensuring the AI tools themselves are accessible.**

**On the panel are Heather Moore**, Associate Director of Educational Support and Disability Services at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, and **Jaafar Al-Azzawi**, Access Coordinator at The University of Memphis, among others.

**Our panel will discuss how to:**

* **Empower Student Independence:** Learn how students are using AI to self-manage tasks.
* **Bridge Learning Gaps Early:** How AI tools can provide support for diverse learning styles.
* **Avoid the AI "Dependency Trap":** Ensuring students use these tools to enhance their critical thinking rather than replace it.
* **Meet April Milestones Together:** Share simple, collaborative ways to use AI to help your department reach new digital standards.
